Paper Textiles Gallery
Drawings are the starting point of my Paper Textiles.
The pieces are made of painted and varnished tissue paper, and contain embroidery.
The Migratory Journeys of birds and fish have captured my imagination and the seeds of new work are beginning to germinate, with charcoal drawings and samples for a series of large Paper Textiles. These incredibly difficult and long journeys are awe inspiring and deserve monumental work that is larger in scale and yet contain intimate areas of close stitching, helping to convey the concept of near detail with open spaces. It is quite intentional that direct similarities with our own journeys, both the spiritual and the physical, are apparent.
