Paper Textiles Gallery
These Paper Textiles are made from layers of white tissue paper that I have painted and printed with oil paints. The thrill of making something special and meaningful from a very mundane utility paper is one of the main reasons I enjoy using tissue, I love a challenge!
After a few weeks the sheets are dry and they can be worked with; usually cut and torn, and hand and machine stitched. The stitching is not only decorative, but also constructional, especially in the ‘Core Samples’. The ‘Fossil Fish’ pieces are finally varnished, simply to embed those fossils forever.
