My drawn marks originate from rocks and pathways. Folding and manipulating them produces mystery and new textures, lending a further layer, and who knows what is concealed within the folds. Graphite, mulberry tissue paper, cotton threads.

  • Carole Bury. Feathers: Shield

    Cloud of Witnesses

‘Feathers: Shield’ Images of faith and divinity today.

A double ring contains 300 paper feathers. These feathers contain their own history, each has been cut-out, curled, folded, hand-stitched and knotted onto their own individual place. Making requires time, care, precision, quiet, rhythm, repetition. Repetition is imbued within - each stitch - a prayer. A meditation aiding a track to unknowing, an embrace with the divine.
