Carole Bury -

What materials do you use?

Paper Textiles. A variety of papers are used in my work, they are usually lightweight and translucent. The pleating work is constructed with a lightweight tissue paper from Thailand, sourced from Khadi Papers.

I use Sumi Ink rather than Indian ink, Sumi ink is very opaque black ink made using a traditional Japanese recipe. The water-based ink dries relatively slowly and is smudge proof after it is dry. It is completely light-fast.

Different threads are used, silk and cotton hold pleating well, but generally I use Gutterman for stitching down the paper feathers and machine stitching layers of paper.

Framed textile work is generally by Creative Picture Framing of Cirencester. They are bespoke box frames, and usually use non-reflective ArtGlas. Shipping can be arranged on an individual basis, I live near Cheltenham and the work can always be collected or delivered locally.

Original Drawings for Sale

Drawings are on smooth watercolour papers and smooth heavyweight cartridge paper, using pencils, ink and charcoal. Fixed with professional quality fixative.

Work can be supplied unframed, unmounted or unframed, and would generally be delivered rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube.

Mounted or framed drawings will be discussed with you, before costing and shipping.

Do the prints come framed?

Small Giclee Prints are window mounted and backed, and shipped flat in sturdy cardboard cases by Royal Mail.

Do you accept commissions?

I undertake commissions based on the work I normally produce.
